Staffing powerhouse Manpower has revealed that nearly 144,200 individuals were impacted by a data breach at its Lansing, Michigan franchise. The company identified the breach while investigating an IT outage on January 20, 2025, which led to discovery of unauthorized access between December 29, 2024, and January 12, 2025.
What Was Stolen and Who Claimed Credit
The cybercriminal group RansomHub claimed responsibility, stating it extracted around 500 GB of data. Stolen materials allegedly include sensitive client and business records—such as passport scans, driver’s licenses, social security numbers, addresses, financial documents, HR files, contracts, and NDAs. The removal of Manpower from RansomHub’s leak site suggests a ransom might have been paid.
Response and Support for Affected Individuals
Affected individuals were offered complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection through Equifax. Services include monitoring, fraud alerts, recovery support, and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance. Manpower has also bolstered its security measures and is cooperating with the FBI.
